Founded in 1842, the New York Philharmonic is the oldest symphony orchestra in the United States and one of the oldest in the world. Based at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, it has been led by conductors including Gustav Mahler, Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez and Alan Gilbert. Gustavo Dudamel becomes its music and artistic director in September 2026.
