Founded in 1938 with a concert conducted by Arturo Toscanini, the Lucerne Festival is one of the world’s leading summer festivals, centred on the KKL Luzern. Its Lucerne Festival Orchestra — revived by Claudio Abbado in 2003 — has been led since 2016 by Riccardo Chailly.
