Founded in 1930, the BBC Symphony Orchestra is the flagship orchestra of the BBC and the backbone of the BBC Proms, where it performs the First and Last Nights each year. Resident at the Barbican in London, it has been led by conductors including Sir Adrian Boult and Pierre Boulez. Sakari Oramo has been chief conductor since 2013.
